weather. I decided that one day I would return to live in this enchanted land.

It was not until 1975 that I was able to realize my dream, when I bought an apartment with a superb mountain view in the pleasant village of Encamp. At
first I was able to stay there only for about four months every year, because
by then I was teaching at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, and could re-
turn for only two months every summer and winter vacation. But after 1988, I stopped teaching and was able to live permanently here. As I am a writer and
a poet, I wrote essays and poems about Andorra, because living here is a
unique experience. My subjects were the daily lives of the inhabitants and
the mountains, rivers, lakes and forests of Andorra, at all seasons, in all kinds of conditions. I am an early riser, so there were poems about night and dawn, the stars, the moon and the clouds, which are all major elements of the Andorran landscape.
